Have Fun at the Historical Hancock Shaker Village. The Hancock Shaker Village, located in the city of Hancock, Massachusetts is a fun and interesting place to visit, especially for those who are interested in history. The historic village has 20 buildings, gardens, and plenty more for people to explore.

When visitors come to the village, they will find quite a few different things to see. Everyone will want to visit all of the buildings and room settings to see how people lived in the villages of the past.

In the Brick Dwelling, you can see hospital beds in the infirmary, medical equipment and more. In the Sisters’ Dairy are butter churns and in the Weave Loft are looms and spinning wheels.

The kids can even take a lesson from a Shaker teacher in the one room schoolhouse! It will be quite a different experience from their regular school. Kids will also enjoy spending some time in the Discovery Room, where they can spin wool, construct a chair, and participate in some other hands-on activities.

In all of these different rooms, you will discover authentic Shaker furniture, handicrafts, tools, artwork, and more.

While at the village, make sure that you also watch some of the demonstrations available. Some of those that you can see are broom making, woodworking, blacksmithing, and butter churning. It is a great way to glimpse into the past and see how life was.

Visitors will also want to check out the gardens and farms around the village. In the herb garden, you can see a number of the herbs that the Shakers used for both food and medicine, while in the vegetable gardens, you can learn about the vegetables and techniques used to grow and harvest them.

Kids and adults will also want to see the barnyard animals at the Hancock Shaker Village. Some of the animals include sheep, pigs, and chickens.

The Hancock Shaker Village is open seasonally. From May 24 to October 19, it is open from 10AM until 5PM. From October 20 to November 9, the village is open from 10AM to 4PM. Admission for adults is $15, children 13 – 17 are $7.50, and those 12 and under are free.

The village is sure to be a hit with the whole family. Just about everyone can find something to love.
