Boston Children's Museum - Boston, Massachusetts
Kids Will Have a Great Time at the Boston Children's Museum. People who come to the city of Boston will never find themselves at a loss for things to do. The city is full of history, and it has a great many attractions that people are sure to love. However, the little ones in the family can sometimes get bored when it comes to visiting historical site after historical site. Fortunately, there is a cure for this boredom in the form of the Boston Children's Museum.
Located in the Jamaica Plains area of Boston, the hands-on museum opened in 1913 and has been teaching and entertaining children ever since.
The museum is huge, with tons of great exhibits to see. Chances are you will want to come back for a second and maybe even a third visit. The following are some of the exhibits that children love.
Airplay
Here, children can learn all about the different properties of air in a fun environment. They can play with pinwheels, and they can play PVC instruments like the ones used by the Blue Man Group. They can also examine some handheld fans.
Arthur and Friends
Most little ones know all about Arthur, the character from the popular series of books by author Marc Brown. At the museum, you can meet Arthur and his pals, as well as play in the Read Family Kitchen and Mr. Ratburn's Classroom. It is like stepping into the show and the kids will love it.
Construction Zone
In the Construction Zone, kids can learn all about building (and demolishing) by getting some hands-on experience with some kid-sized versions of some really big tools. They can check out some ramps, tunnels, and more.
Johnny's Workbench
In this area of the museum, boys and girls can learn about hand tools and learn how to used them. In fact, the whole family can get in on the fun and create their very own woodworking project.
Recycle Shop
Long before 'going green' was a common term, the museum was teaching children just how important it is to recycle. You will find tons of great recycled materials here that are perfect for a variety of arts and crafts projects.
The Boston Children's Museum is open from 10AM to 5PM everyday except Friday, when it is open from 10AM to 9PM. The museum is closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas, and it opens at noon on New Year's Day.
